Here's a recipe from my friend, Bernice, who is a source of all kinds of wonderful recipes.  My neighbors Keith and Jenita are very generous with the cucumbers from their garden, and they are just yummy with this dressing with the addition noted below!  I just had to share it.  From time-to-time, I'll add more recipes I think you might like.

Versatile Salad Dressing

Use this as the base for wonderful dressings

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
3 Tbs. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. ground mustard
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup vinegar
1 cup water

Directions

In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, salt and mustard.  Stir in eggs.  Gradually stir in vinegar and water until smooth.

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.  Cook and stir for 2 minutes.

Cover and refrigerate.

Just before serving, combine desired amount of base with an equal amount of mayonnaise.  My friend, Bernice, uses equal portions of mayonnaise and sour cream and mixes them with dressing base.

Serve as a dressing for potato salad, coleslaw (add celery seed) or salad greens, or cucumbers (add dill weed).

Refrigerate leftover dressing base.

Yield:  3-1/2 cups base
